Sambalpur: Villagers have alleged that the administration has not been releasing the PMAY fund for months, resulting in delay in house construction work in Chandamunda under ward no 40 of Sambalpur Municipality Corporation.
Construction of houses under Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana is going on in various villages of Sambalpur Municipality Corporation.
Kit checking and inspection of construction works are completed by the departmental officers. But the fund is not made available to the beneficiaries yet.
When the villagers asked officials concerned about the delay in releasing the fund, they had reportedly said that it would be released after the election.
On the other hand, the villagers alleged shopkeepers are refusing to give construction materials like cement and bricks without clearing the arrears. Because of this, the villagers said, construction of houses has stopped half way.
Villagers said they can complete their building work on time if the installments are deposited in their bank accounts as per the guidelines.
As per the PMAY scheme, an initial amount of Rs 2 lakh is provided to a beneficiary. Subsequently, Rs 40,000 is given after the completion of the foundation work; Rs 60,000 after the plinth level; and Rs 60,000 before laying the roof.
When Deputy Commissioner of the Municipality Corporation Shubhankar Mohanty was asked about the delay, he said the officers were busy in poll work. He assured that the beneficiaries would be given the money soon.
