Sajanagarh: An Odia youth was arrested by Delhi police for allegedly stealing gold coins worth Rs 4 lakh from a jewellery shop in New Delhi.
The accused, identified as Kashinath Mallick (22) from Bhimei village near Nilagiri, was working at a jewellery shop, owned by Niraj Jain, in Delhi.
When the owner was absent, Mallick stole the gold coins and went to his village and kept the coins at his house. Later, he went to Mumbai and worked there by changing his name.
According to sources, he opened a fake Facebook account but later uploaded his own picture that helped the police to trace him. The cops arrested the youth from Mumbai August 25.
Delhi police along with Nilagiri police Wednesday went to Kashinath’s village and seized the stolen gold coins from his house.
