Dengue acquires alarming proportions in Ganjam district

Berhampur: Dengue has acquired an alarming proportion in Ganjam district with no let up in the spread of the disease, the report said.

Meanwhile, the number of positive patients has gone up to 195. The disease is spreading fast and affecting the young and the old alike despite the health department undertaking a series of measures to contain the spread of the disease. Health officials are visiting the residence of the affected persons and destroying the larvae growing in stagnant water near their houses.

As many as 12 persons including a child tested positive for the disease Friday and Saturday.  While four persons tested positive Friday, the blood samples of eight persons tested positive Saturday.

Among them, a 35-year old woman of Gosaninuagaon, a 23-year old youth from Lanjipali, a 29-year old youth from Bijipur and a 23-year old woman from MKCG Medical College and Hospital campus under the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMc) limits tested positive for the disease, Saturday.

Similarly, a 38-year old woman of Sana Aryapalli under Chhatrapur block, a 26-year old woman of Brahmanchhai under Shergad block, a 32-year old of K Subani under Chikiti block and a six-year old girl of Golabandh under Rangeilunda block have been affected by the disease, Saturday.

A 28-year old woman of Golapalli Sahi under the BeMc limits,  a 23-year old youth  from Kulagarh under Shergad block, a 16-year old girl of Lathi village under Kukudakhandi block and a 36-year old youth from Pratapur village under Jagannathprasad block tested positive for the disease, Friday.
