Bhubaneswar: Dengue cases in Odisha has increased and spreading its tentacles to 29 districts, with Jharsuguda as an exception, till Monday.
Samples 13 persons were tested at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack, and one among them was found to be infected with the vector-borne disease. The person belongs to Sambalpur district.
However, there has been a fall in such cases being reported from Cuttack.
In the last 45 days, 134 patients have tested positive for dengue, which has so far claimed two lives this season. Cuttack district has reported the highest of 62 dengue patients, informed SCB Medical authorities.
Sample test of 2,219 patients from Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Chhatisgarh, West Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh, was conducted in last seven months. Of these, 189 were found dengue positive.
While 16 dengue cases were reported from Tangi, nine were from Choudwar and eight from Jagatpur. At present, 33 dengue patients are under treatment in dengue ward of SCB and six among them admitted to ICU.
