Baliapala: Despite administrative intervention to contain the dengue menace in Baliapal block of Balasore district, fresh cases of the vector-borne disease continue to emerge.
According to reports, a girl from this area who was suffering from dengue died September 15 while undergoing treatment in SCB Medical College and Hospital.
Further rise in dengue cases has triggered panic in several villages across the district.
A team of health department workers recently visited various villages in this block and collected the blood samples of 28 villagers suspected to be affected by this disease. The persons who are affected in high fever were given paracetamol tablets and ORS.
Meanwhile, several fresh cases have emerged from various other areas of the district.
The affected persons have been admitted to Balasore district headquarters hospital, said a source.
A group of healthcare workers, divided in four teams, are conducting an awareness campaigns across the district, the source added.
