Bhubaneswar: The number of dengue cases in Odisha is less in comparison to last year, Odisha state Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra said here Tuesday.
Mishra said that in 2022 by this time 10,000 tests were conducted and 700 patients tested positive for dengue. This year, 18,000 tests have so far been done and 550 patients have tested positive for the disease.
He said ten districts have not reported any dengue cases so far and in 12 districts, the number of cases is below double-digit. In seven districts, the number is below 40, he added.
The director said in Khurda district the number is slightly high. Municipal corporations, municipalities and panchayat samitis have been asked to create awareness among the people to control the spread of the disease.

Meanwhile, two persons — one seven-year-old child and another 62-year-old woman — allegedly died of dengue while undergoing treatment.
The district Unit of the BJP Tuesday held a rally in protest against the rise in the incidence of dengue and demanded the resignation of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Mayor for its failure to control the spread of the disease.
