Bhubaneswar: A blanket-like dense fog enveloped Saturday morning the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, affecting road and air traffic.
As visibility beyond 10 metres was nearly impossible, road traffic came to a virtual standstill. With it being a weekend, some people chose to remain indoors. And those who had ventured out in their vehicles had no option but to use high beams for proper visibility. The morning walkers had a tough time while trekking the city roads.
Meanwhile, the Met Department at Bhubaneswar has predicted that the fog situation will continue for the next couple of days.
The air traffic at Biju Patnaik International Airport was also affected due to fog. Some flights were delayed and some were diverted, BPIA sources said.
“The exact number of flights cancelled and delayed will shortly be informed,” BPIA director Suresh Chandra Hota said.
