Bhubaneswar: The city of Bhubaneswar woke up to a chilly Saturday morning and witnessed a thick, dense blanket of fog, rendering citizens almost blind as visibility levels took a toll on the morning traffic.
The Metrological Department has predicted that the twin city of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack will continue to reel under dense fog this week.
Meanwhile, many trains are running late due to poor visibility in Odisha.
According to the Metrological Department, the visibility was recorded at 25 metre in Chandbali, 50 metre in Paradip and 100 metre in Cuttack. Besides, Balasore, Nayagarh and Baripada recorded 400, 500 and 700 metre visibility, respectively.
The visibility recorded in the capital city was 800 metre.
An official of Regional Metrological department said, “In Bhubaneswar, dense fog was witnessed in Nandankanan area while shallow fog prevailed in Airport area this morning. The visibility was 800 metre in Airport area at 7 AM Saturday.”
Dense fog will be witnessed during morning hours for the next three days due to the presence of high moisture in the atmosphere. Weather will mostly remain dry for the next few days, the official added.
