Bhubaneswar: The depression over Odisha is likely to weaken gradually into a well-marked low pressure area in the next 12 hours, according to the regional centre of the Indian Meteorological Department.
However, isolated heavy rainfall may occur in districts including Malkangiri, Koraput, Bargarh, Nuapada and Nabarangpur.
The weather forecasters have also hoisted Local Cautionary Signal Number-III at Gopalpur port. Strong surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is very likely along and off the Odisha coast during the next 24 hours.
The fishermen are advised not to venture into sea in the next 24 hours as the sea condition will be moderate to rough along and off the Odisha coast.
However, a fresh low pressure is likely to develop over North Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood by around August 18, sources in Met said.
