Devasnana Purnima: Holy Trinity undergoes ‘snana’ twice as blood stains found near ‘Snana Bedi’

Puri: The ‘Deva Snana’ (bathing) rituals of Holy Trinity at Puri Jagannath temple were performed twice on occasion of ‘Snana Purnima’ as blood stains were spotted near ‘snana bedi’(bathing altar).

According to a source, a Jagannath Temple Police (JTP) personnel spotted the blood stains and reported it to the temple authority and servitors. Later, the servitors decided to conduct the Mahasnana rituals after ritualistic purification.

The source further said that the blood stains may of a servitor as any of them might have sustained injuries at the time of performing the rituals.

Notably, apart from blood stains, Mahasnana rituals are also performed if situations like the following takes place inside the Srimandir premises: if anyone relieves himself/ herself, if anyone vomits, and in case of animal or human death. Also, if a dog or skeleton is found inside the Srimandir, Mahasnana is performed.
