Puri: On the occasion of Snana Purnima, a devotee from Rajasthan died in Puri Sunday, a source said.
The deceased was identified as Ambalal, who came to Puri from Rajasthan with his family.
According to the source, Ambalal collapsed inside Srimandir during darshan. The devotee was spotted by security guards while he was fainting.
Ambalal experienced uneasiness and complained of chest pain. He was initially treated at a first aid centre near Singhadwara (Lion’s gate of Srimandir) where the guards performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on him.
Later, they shifted him in an ambulance to the district headquarters hospital in Puri as his health deteriorated further, the source added
The doctors at Puri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) eventually declared the devotee dead.
Heart attack is suspected to be the cause behind Ambalal’s death.
However, the actual reason behind the death was yet to be ascertained.
