Kendrapara: In an unfortunate incident, a sexagenarian devotee was crushed under the wheels of Patitapaban chariot at Pokhariapada under Pattamundai police limit here Sunday evening. The incident occurred when the elderly man slipped and fell on the ground while pulling the chariot, Umashankar Moharana, SDPO of Pattamundai, said.
The deceased has been identified as Nirakar Jena (63), a resident of Alava village under Pattamundai police station.
According to Moharana, Jena came to Pokariapada to pull Patitapaban’s chariot Sunday evening. But as luck would have it, he accidentally fell under the wheel of the chariot and was crushed to death on the spot. Doctors at Kendrapara DHH declered him ‘brought dead’.
