Puri: Thousands of devotees from various parts of the state Tuesday paid obeisance to Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra at the Adapa Mandap of Srigundicha Temple here.
The devotees also partook of the Abadha prasad offered to the deities at the Adapa Mandap.
The three deities along with Lord Sudarshan were carried to the Adapa Mandap from their respective chariots through a Pahandi procession Monday. Sources in the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said the Mangala Alati ritual of the deities was conducted at 7.20 am Tuesday.
Devotees were allowed to pay obeisance to the deities soon after completion of Abakash and other rituals.
“The devotees were allowed to enter the Srigundicha temple through the main gate and exited the shrine through the Nakachana gate. The Abadha Prasad of the deities was sold to devotees at around 1.30 pm,” said a SJTA official.
The Dattamahapatra servitors of Srimandir performed the Banakalagi ritual of the deities soon after completion of Madhynha Dhoop. The SJTA has completed all arrangements for Hera Panchami scheduled for July 18 (Wednesday).
As per Srimandir tradition, Goddess Laxmi, the consort of Lord Jagannath, is carried to Srigundicha temple from Srimandir for Hera Panchami. “Goddess Laxmi visits Srigundicha temple to convince her master to return to Srimandir with her. She damages Nandighosa chariot partially and returns to Srimandir after Lord Jagannath refuses to accompany her,” said a servitor.
