Devotees from Sikkim, Bihar denied entry into Jagannath temple

Puri: Having failed to prove themselves as Hindus, two devotees from Sikkim have allegedly been denied darshan of Lord Jagannath.

According to reports, Ammi Ray from Sikkim and her friend from Bihar were waiting in the queue for long hours Monday but they have been denied entry.

When the security asked them for identity proof, they said their identity cards were in their vehicle. Both of them told the security that they are Hindus and to prove their point, Ammi even chanted ‘Gayatri Mantra’.

However, the security staff said they have to produce the identity cards to get entry.

After having darshan of ‘Patitapabana’ from the Singha Dwar, they returned without fulfilling their desire of having the darshan of Lord Jagannath.
