Moradabad: Festivals and pujas are common in India. Normally, devotees offer milk, water, fruits, first crops, coconuts etc.

But, have you ever heard of devotees offering broom in a temple. Yes, you heard it right. There is a unique temple where devotees offer broom to please god. This temple is located in Behojoi village in Muradabad district of Uttar Pradesh.

Although, it might sound funny, there is also a special reason to do so.

In this temple which is also known as Pataleshwar Shiva Temple (150 years old) devotees offer a broom on Shivling with milk, curd.

Devotees believe that by doing this, Lord Shiva fulfills their wish. It is also said that lord shiva is happy with the brooming and if someone has a skin related disease, he gets rid of it.

The reason behind the offering of broom: It is said that there was a businessman named Bhikhari Das in this village. He was rich but was suffering from skin related diseases. One day on his way for treatment, he went into the temple and accidentally collided with a person who was sweeping the temple premises.

Soon after, Das’s skin disease was healed miraculously. Since then people have been offering brooms in this temple.
