Cuttack: Director General of Police (DGP) Rajendra Prasad Sharma has laid emphasis on cooperation of investigating officers (IOs) in courts for speedy disposal of cases.
The Crime Branch of Odisha police has sent communiqués in this regard to all district superintendents of police (SPs), sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) and DCPs of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
The CB communiqué has asked IOs to depose before courts as per the directions and submit their personal phone numbers and email IDs in court for better coordination regarding trials of cases.
The CB has directed SPs, SDPOs and DCPs to submit details regarding the reshuffle of police personnel to it at regular intervals. Senior police officers have also been advised to keep in touch with assistant public prosecutors for the timely hearing of cases.
Moreover, the CB has directed SPs, SDPOs and DCPs to ensure the deposition of IOs in courts.
It is learnt that courts are facing problems in disposing of several crime cases due to the non-cooperation of IOs. “Any non-cooperation from IOs in courts would invite action,” said a senior CB officer.
