Dhruv Pandove Trophy: Subhransu to lead Orissa

Cuttack, Sept 2: Subhransu Senapati will lead the 17-member Orissa U-19 team announced by Orissa Cricket Association (OCA) Wednesday here for the Dhruv Pandove Trophy Invitational cricket tournament in Punjab September 8-12.

Orissa has been placed in Pool A along with hosts Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Tripura.  Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, MPCA and Assam are placed in Pool B. Orissa will play their first match against Tripura at Chandigarh September 8. Orissa will face Punjab in their second match at Ropar in September 9. Then they will play their third match against HPCA at Chandigarh in September 11.

BBSR emerge champ

Cadets of Sainik School, Bhubaneswar emerged champions in the All India Inter-Zonal Sainik School Hockey Tournament, which concluded at the Sainik School, Kapurthala, Punjab, Monday. With the title win, Sainik School, Bhubaneswar directly qualified for the National Level ‘Nehru Cup’.

In the series of matches in the tournament, Sainik School, Bhubaneswar won 4 – 0 against Sainik School, Bijapur, Karnatak; 6-0 against Sainik School, Purulia, West Bengal; 6-0 against Sainik School, Balachadi, Gujrat and 3-0 against Sainik School, Sujanpur Tira, Himachal Pradesh. 

Aman Kumar of Bhubaneswar received the best scorer award, while Tinku Kasana of the same school was adjudged as the best player of the tournament. 

Canoeing and Kayaking Meet

SAI Training Center, Cuttack will organise the Zonal Canoeing and Kayaking Championship at the Jagatpur Water Sports Complex, September 3-6. All the Sports Authority of India (SAI) teams from the East Zone are participating in this meet.
