The programme began with a Dhumpa song presented by Gangadhar Dhumpa Sangeet Parishad. Dhumpa Sangeet of Khandapada is recited during rainy season. It is similar to the recitation of songs in rainy season in North India. These songs are based on the spiritual love between Radha and Krishna.
Dhumpa Sangeet is performed with aid of a musical instrument called Dhumpa. The tunes produced by this instrument are sweet and melodious. The tribal community had introduced this tradition in ancient times.
