Attabira: Even as diarrhoea has spread in some areas of Attabira block in Bargarh district, one person died in Kodabahal area under the block late Thursday night. At least eight persons were admitted at Attabira PHC.
Many people have been affected by the disease in the area while Kakaya Daradia, 85, died Thursday night. Persons including Jaoshabanti Haripal, 65, Subidha Gardia, 30, Bisi Bharsagar, 31, Suren Bag, 27, and Amika, 50, were affected.
A team of doctors immediately rushed to the village and administered medicines to patients apart from making them aware of the need for preventive measures.
Attabira CHC medical officer, Rabinaryan Mishra, said water samples have been collected from the village. He warned of strict action if laxity is found in the purification of water before it was supplied for drinking.
The staff and doctors of Kodabahal PHC were engaged in the treatment of affected people in the villages, added Mishra. He said an awareness programme for villagers will be organised.
It was suspected that water of tube-wells near Khetipada is responsible for spreading diarrhoea in the district.
