Rourkela/Ranpur: Two women were raped in separate incidents in Nayagarh and Sundargarh districts.
In the first incident, a married woman (22) was gangraped by two persons in Rourkela Town police station area Tuesday.
The victim was returning home after charging her mobile phone at a relative’s house when the accused gagged her and took her to an isolated house. They took turns on her despite stiff resistance from the woman.
Locals went to the spot after which the duo escaped, leaving the woman in an unconscious state.
After regaining her sense, the woman narrated the incident to the locals. She identified the accused as Parshu Munda (40) and Lolo (19) of the same locality.
A police complaint was lodged by her family members.
In another incident, a differently-abled woman was raped by her 50-year-old relative at Srikrushnapur village under Chandpur police limits in Nayagarh district.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother, police registered a case and launched a manhunt to arrest the accused Krupasindhu Patra who was absconding after the incident.
The victim had gone to a shop and was returning home Monday night when Patra gagged her and took her to a bathroom where he raped her.
