Dipankush, Birajkant destroy Paradip

Cuttack: Dipankush Sabat (6/35) took a six-for and Birajkant Behera (3/13) claimed three wickets as Bhubaneswar B thrashed Paradip by 10 wickets in their match of the U-16 Inter-district cricket tournament here at the Bidanasi ground, Saturday.

Batting first, Paradip were skittled out for paltry 55 runs in 10.1 overs as none of their batsmen could withstand the fiery bowling of Dipankush and Birajkant as wickets fell at regular intervals. It is also to be noted that out of six, five of Dipankush’s victims were bowled out. Pratyush Prakash Sahoo (1/0) was the other wicket taker for Bhubaneswar.

In reply, Bhubaneswar overhauled the target in just 7.4 overs without losing any wicket. Punya Prasan Mohanty (24 n o) and Saransh Kumar (19 n o) scored for the winners.

(At Ravenshaw Ground): Jagatsinghpur 68 (Snehasish Sahoo 5/20, Vijay Yadav 4/13) lost to Rourkela 72/2 in 12.3 overs (Ashirbad Swain 67 n o) by eight wickets.

 

Odisha finish runners-up

Odisha finished runners-up in the recently concluded School Sports Kabaddi Championships at Madurai, Kerala. Odisha lost narrowly to Delhi 30-37 in the final.
