Loisingha: Rabindra Nayak, a Mechanical and Electrical Diploma holder, best known as Budhia, runs a tea shop from a stall near Loisingha stadium and has nothing to complain about.
It was 40 years back Budhia’s grandfather moved from Berhampur to Bolangir in search of livelihood. Unable to decide on the means of his livelihood, he took to beetle leaf business as there was fewer competition in the business. He grabbed the opportunity, and flourished in the business.
Later, he called for Budhia’s father Padmacharan Nayak to shift to Loisingha who arrived with his wife Tanu and four daughters. Later, Budhia was born in Loisinga.
The family carried out the business and led a happy life. However, things took an ugly turn after Budhi’s grandfather and father passed away. Earlier, whatever his father earned would see the family through. However, the burden of the entire family soon fell on Budhia’s unaccustomed shoulders.
At a tender age, Budhia confronted two challenges–to maintain the family and to continue his studies. However, he did not back off. With sheer determination, Budhia overcome the challenges. He took a cabin on rent and started selling tea in evening hours while he attended college during daytime.
Whatever he earned would earmark a portion for his study and the rest for his family. Likewise, he managed to get a Diploma-Mechanical from Bolangir ITI College in 2009-2011. Later, he pursued the Diploma-Electrical in 2011-2014.
Although, he was offered jobs after his education, and he took two jobs, the satisfaction he got from his tea stall was elusive in his private jobs.
Now he opens his stall early morning that runs till 9PM at night. On an average, he earns more than Rs 4,000 a day, Budhia quips.
He believes that honesty and good behavior is the mantra of success. And he sticks to this formula that attracts customers from all walks of life, including political leaders.
He has recently taken a wholesaling agency of cold drinks. Now with his income, he owns a house of his own and is able to keep his family happy. He owes his success to his dedication and determination to his calling.
