Bolangir: Vigilance sleuths Thursday morning raided the office and residence of Ashok Mohapatra, the manager of Bolangir District Cooperative Central Bank (DCCB), on charges of acquisition and possession of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Acting on a tip-off, vigilance officers under the leadership of Sambalpur Vigilance SP Rabindra Kumar Pradhan conducted simultaneous raids at four places including his residence in Dasmati Nagar and four other places including his chamber at the bank, a house near Bolangir RTO, his ancestral home in Malpada area and the house of his daughter in Bhawanipatna.
However, the exact amount of disproportionate assets that the banker possesses is yet to be ascertained, officials added.
According to Mohapatra, he is scheduled to retire next year. Mohapatra, who recently built a new house by taking Rs 50 lakh from State Bank of India and Rs 3.5 lakh from Andhra Bank, said that it was quite normal to keep Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 for daily household expenses.
