Bhubaneswar : DM School encourages all students to be good human beings and good citizens of India, said Shaktikant Das, RBI Governor, Saturday, at the Annual Alumni Meet-2019 of the school.
Das, who himself was 1973 batch student of the school, said, “DM School’s contributions for our back then generation was immense. The school makes students both a good human being and also a responsible citizen of India. And, teachers carried out their responsibilities to create both characters.”
Das also mentioned that he agreed to attend the event only to experience the joy of coming back to school. He asked students to do hard work and to be disciplined to achieve success.
Das also shared his working experience after becoming Governor of RBI. “Becoming the Governor was sudden incident. Works and responsibilities for me have been multifarious. We have taken many decisions since I joined as the RBI Governor. I need to be alert every day,” he shared.
Das, who was the chief guest for the event, also inaugurated a robotic lab in the school.
Renowned neurosurgeon Dr Basant Kumar Misra was also present at the alumni meet. Misra, an ex-student of the school, recalled his school days and thanked the teachers for their contributions in his life.
The alumni association felicitated eight ex-students for their achievements in life. The association also honoured meritorious students of the school who topped in the Class-X and XII in 2018. Six students (three each from Class-X and Class-XII) were given away a cash award of Rs 20,000 each. Pratyasha Ray, a Class-XI student, also received Rs 20,000 for getting a gold medal in national CBSE school games.
The association paid homage to the Pulwama martyrs on the occasion.
Association president Rajib Sekhar Sahoo, school headmaster Akhileshwar Mishra, school principal Regional Institute of Education, Bhubaneswar, PC Agrawal and other dignitaries were present at the event.
