Baripada: Young social workers of Baripada have expressed their concern over traffic problems in a memorandum submitted to District Collector Vineet Bhardwaj.
They pointed out the stretch from Satyasai Chowk near the bus stand to Daragadehi has virtually turned into a death trap as a huge number of buses and other vehicles are found parked on both sides of the road, causing huge traffic problems and disruptions.
Not a single attempt has been made by the district administration or police to check traffic disruptions. As a result, commuters continue to face a tough time as a large number of vehicles can be seen parked on both sides of the road, the memorandum said.
The lack of monitoring and proper vigil has emboldened those who flout traffic norms. Haphazard parking during peak hours often leads to traffic snarls on the stretch. Previously, the matter was brought to the notice of authorities concerned but in vain.
The young social workers under the leadership of Biplab Kumar Das and Uttam Kumar Das submitted the written memorandum to Collector Vinit Bharadwaj Friday.
They suggested establishment of a traffic post near Aurabindo School at Chow Field; checking of illegal parking from veterinary hospital road to Khimji road and in front of shopping mall, etc and urged the collector to take steps.
