Mumbai: Actress Smita Patil’s film journey was just over a decade. She was in the news not only for films but also for her relationship with Raj Babbar. Her sudden death at the age of 31 still remains a mystery.
Smita who is known for her strong acting skills, was born 17 October 1956. There is also an interesting story behind her name being Smita. Actually a cute smile was on her face at birth, her mother Vidyatai Patil named her Smita.
This smile later became the most attractive aspect of her personality. Smita is known for her serious acting in parallel cinema, but very few people know that Smita, who looked serious on film screen, was naughty in real life.
Maithili Rao, who wrote the biography of Smita Patil, said, “Smita had a brain infection which was exaggerating. She was not ready to go to the hospital, she used to say that I will not leave my son alone. When infection increased, she was admitted to Jaslok Hospital. Smita’s organs went on failing one after the other.”
In the last few days of her life, Smita’s relationship with husband Raj Babbar was also not cordial. Smita had one last wish, according to her makeup artist Deepak Sawant. “Smita used to say ‘after my death, dress me like Suhaagan (Married woman)’,” Sawant revealed.
“It is very sad that I did her makeup and as per her last wish, Smita was dressed like Suhaagan,” Sawant recalled.
