Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police Saturday warned the public not to click any link relating to ‘Pink Whatsapp’ received through messages on their mobile devices.
The state police issued this advisory on its official Twitter handle. Cybercriminals are sending messages to random people about the launch of a new pink-themed Whatsapp with many additional features.
Once people click the link, the fraudsters steal all their personal details and crucial information from their mobile phones.
The Odisha police warned the public as pink Whatsapp is a novel technique recently being adopted by these cybercriminals to steal personal data that many people are unaware of.
“Got a text with a link to change your Whatsapp theme to pink? Don’t click it. All you need to do is to delete the message immediately,” tweeted the police.
Police forces of different states have already issued advisory warning people to not entertain any such message.
