Dreaded criminal escapes from police custody in Cuttack

Cuttack: A dreaded criminal gave the cops a slip on the pretext of relieving himself outside the police station. The incident took place at Cuttack Sadar police station in the district late Wednesday night.

The accused has been identified as Juga Khan, a resident of Cuttack district.

According to police officials, Khan was arrested by the cops for his alleged involvement in an extortion case and was brought to Cuttack Sadar Police Station for interrogation.

He asked for toilet facility in the police station. The cops, however, did not have one. They sent Khan with a constable to a place behind the police station. Taking advantage of the situation, Khan hoodwinked the constable and ran away.

Senior police officials said that an operation is underway to nab the miscreant soon.

Notably, multiple cases of extortion, attempt to murder and loot are pending against Khan in various police stations across Odisha.
