Dreaded criminals injured in police encounter

Bhubaneswar: Two dreaded criminals were injured in an exchange of fire with Commissionerate police early Sunday morning in Bhubaneswar.

According to the police, the incident took place at about  4:45am at Ranga Bazar market that comes under Saheed Nagar police limits.

The accused have been identified as Bibekananda Naik and Arun Mallick.

They were allegedly involved in a number of robbery and murder cases including recent robbery incidents in Mancheswar area and attack on a hotel owner Tuesday night.

Both the accused men were waiting in a car at Ranga Bazar area planning to commit robbery. They opened fire on police when the cops tried to nab them.

Both have sustained bullet injuries on their thighs. They have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.
