Nilgiri: With the electrification process in its last phase, the much-awaited dream of Nilgiri folks is soon to materialise as they will get train services in their locality in a few days. The elation of the public knows no bounds as the laying of tracks is going to be completed after constant efforts of Member of Parliament (MP) Pratap Chandra Sarangi. Gopinathpur, a place three kilometres away from Nilgiri had an inoperable railway track for the last 70 years.
Despite the failed efforts of two previous MPs, Sarangi on getting elected met Piyush Goyal, Railway Minister of that time, and proposed passenger train services for Nilgiri. After the change in the Cabinet, Sarangi again proposed for the same to the new Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. Acknowledging the seriousness of the matter, the Prime Minister’s nod came soon after Vaishnaw drew his attention.
Some high-level officials of the Railways and Union Ministers Bishweswar Tudu and Vaishnaw visited the place and inaugurated the project. The Kharagpur railway division also worked hard to complete the work on time. Witnessing the last phase of work at the station and platform, railway employees are working tirelessly to get the project completed on time so that the train services start.
