Driver burnt alive after truck catches fire following collision on NH-49 in Deogarh

Deogarh: In a tragic road mishap in the wee hours of Sunday, the driver of a container truck was burnt alive after the vehicle which he was driving had head-on collision with another goods-carrier truck.

According to an eyewitness, the accident took place at around 5.00am near Bamparada village under Barkote police limits in Deogarh.

The container truck was on its way from Deogarh to Keonjhar when it dashed against the goods-carrier which was coming from the opposite direction. There was a loud sound of collision followed by a spark leading to the ill-fated vehicle catching fire, the eyewitness added.

The truck driver got stuck inside the vehicle and charred to death in the incident as he could not come out. On the other hand, the goods-carrier skidded off the road and overturned following the collision.

On being informed, a team comprising Barkote police and local fire personnel rushed to the mishap site. Police have registered a case in this connection and launched a probe, a police official expressed.
