Driver charred to death as live electric wire falls on tractor in Ganjam district

Berhampur: A tractor driver was charred to death Saturday afternoon after a live electric wire snapped and fell on the vehicle at B Brahmapur village under Sheragad tehsil in Ganjam district, an official of the police station informed.

According to a police source, the deceased tractor driver was identified as Manoj Kumar Pradhan from Tulasipali village under Jagannathprasad police limits in the district. The man was harvesting paddy at a yard in his village. An overhead electric wire snapped and fell on the tractor leading to his death.

The critically burnt tractor driver was immediately rescued by some villagers. He was rushed to Buguda community health centre (CHC) where doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.

On being informed, a fire-fighting team reached the spot and doused the flame. However, a huge stack of harvested paddy caught fire and got completely charred.
