Malkangiri: Police Sunday arrested a man on the charge of raping a tribal girl of Kangurukonda panchayat under Kalimela police station in this district and produced him in a court.
The accused was identified as Prashant Bachhad, a tractor driver of MV-73, while the victim was the daughter of the vehicle owner.
According to reports, Prashant was working as a driver in a tribal household in Kangurukonda. A few days back, he forcibly picked up the girl from a deserted village stretch to a secluded area when she was walking back home. He forced himself upon her and left the place.
The girl returned home and narrated her ordeal to her family members.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s family, police arrested Prashant from his village.
Both the victim and the accused had undergone medical examination following which the latter was produced in a court.
