DSP detained for allegedly deserting woman cop after marriage in Kalahandi district

Kalahandi: In a case of fence eating the crop, a senior police officer was detained Friday for betraying a woman constable. The officer had allegedly married her at a temple in Kalahandi district. The detained officer has been identified as Malkangiri Sadar DSP Akshay Nayak. Personnel from the Kesinga police station, where the woman is also posted, arrested him.

In her complaint, lodged at Kesinga police station, the constable has also alleged that the officer also tortured her mentally.

According to the complaint, Nayak was the SDPO at Kesinga police station from 2009 to 2012. During that period he had an affair with the female cop. Later they got married at a temple.

However, a few months into the alleged marriage the senior officer started ignoring the constable. In spite of repeated requests from the constable, Nayak refused to accept her as his wife. All the pleas of the constable, it seemed, fell on deaf years. Ultimately seeing no other alternative, she lodged a complaint at the Kesinga police station.

Taking the case seriously, the Superintendent of Police (SP), Kalahandi directed the Kesinga police to conduct an investigation into the incident. This led to the detention of Nayak.

A detailed investigation is underway.
