Dumkanosa waterfall in keonjhar cries for facelift

Raisuan: Mineral-rich Keonjhar district is endowed with bounties of nature in the forms of scenic places, but many of them still lie hidden from the view of visitors due to lack of basic infrastructure.

Dumkanosa is one such neglected place tucked away amid hilly and sylvan settings. A waterfall adds charm to the natural surroundings.

Visitors usually come to see tourist places like Sanghagara, Badaghagara and Gonasika where waterfalls are major attractions.

Sadly, Dumkanosa, 17 km from the district headquarters, has not been able to grab eyeball of the tourists.

The place has enough to offer immense delight to the onlookers: Water falls from a height of 100 ft and gathers in a rocky pool down below. The waterfall is sandwiched between two hills. Environmentalist Sanjay Sahu said if the tourism department pays attention to the development of the site, the place can attract tourists to the area.

Several other intellectuals of the area observed that giving boost to the tourism potential of the place will certainly usher in improvement in the living standards of tribals residing around the place.
