Bhubaneswar, August 9: Dutee Chand of Orissa bagged a gold medal in the 200 metres sprint of the 13th Federation Cup National Junior Athletic Championship, Which concluded at Hyderabad, Sunday.
Dutee clocked 24.03 seconds to take the top honours. Situ Singh (24.69 seconds) of Uttar Pradesh won the silver medal, while Rajani Nagar (25.18 seconds) of Haryana bagged the bronze medal.
“On completion of the All India Railway Athletics Meet, I have to rush here to participate in the Federation Cup. So, I did not get much time. But I am satisfied that at the end, I finished with a gold medal,” Dutee stated.
In the Heptathlon event, Rajeswari Bhoi of the state won the bronze medal. She scored 4150 points to finish third. Soumya (4786) of Tamil Nadu clinched the gold, while Sivangi Rout (4412) bagged the bronze medal.
Orissa Athletic Association (OAA) secretary Asirbad Behera congratulated both the athletes of the state for their feat.
