ECG centre at Nayagarh DHH remains shut, private operators fleece patients

Nayagarh: Eights months after a female patient accused the-then Electrocardiogram (ECG) technician of Nayagarh district headquarters hospital (DHH) of abuse, the ECG centre continues to remain locked there till date.

This happens while private service providers roam inside the hospital premises with little machines on their hands promising the patients to get the ECG reports done for Rs 300- Rs 500.

The ECG centre here was established about a year ago keeping the convenience of patients in mind, and to provide cheap healthcare service to the patients. Both machine and trained manpower were engaged to operate the centre between 8:00am to 3:00pm every day.

That said, the hospital authorities have turned a blind eye to the locked doors of the centre after allegations against the ECG technician surfaced.

When contacted, CDMO Sweta Mohapatra suggested that the centre remains shut since there is nooone else to run it anymore. He further assured to take up the issue in the next meeting of ‘Rogi Kalyan Samiti’ (Patients’ Welfare Society).
