ECoR gets new operations chief manager

Bhubaneswar, Jan 7: Guru Charan Ray, a 1983-batch Indian Railways Traffic Service (IRTS) officer, Wednesday assumed charge as the chief operations manager of East Coast Railway (ECoR), a release issued by ECoR said.
His appointment as head of operations of the highest-loading railway zone in the country holds significance when the ECoR has been given a tough target of 163 million tonne of freight loading this
fiscal.
Prior to this assignment, he was heading the transportation planning unit of ECoR.
He has had all-round experience of Railways working and served with distinction in the freight operations, coaching operations, safety, planning, public relations and general administration departments of the Railways.
Ray’s immediate priorities include achieving the stiff loading target, improved punctuality of trains, putting infrastructure planning in place for the Nabakalebar festival, better logistics supply to industries and strategic connectivity to ports, the release added.
