ECoR stresses on collective effort for cleanliness

Bhubaneswar: In a spirited demonstration of commitment and shared responsibilities to cleanliness and environmental sustainability, East Coast Railway (ECoR) observed the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign with a series of engaging activities, including a ‘Prabhat Pheri’, a 50km Cyclothon and a tree plantation drive. The event was graced by ECoR general manager Parmeshwar Funkwal, who officially flagged off the Cyclothon, aimed at raising awareness for the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. Participants included ECoR staff, officers, and family members, who enthusiastically took to the streets, promoting cleanliness and sustainability. The Prabhat Pheri from Rail Sadan, saw participants marching with slogans, banners, posters, and placards on the streets.

A tree plantation drive was also organised on the occasion, led by Funkwal. Participants planted saplings to contribute to a greener and healthier environment. Activities also included an eco walk and a relay race, held at the Railway Stadium, fostering teamwork and promoting fitness among staff and officers from various departments. “The campaign embodies our collective responsibility towards a cleaner and greener future. Together, we can make a significant difference,” said Funkwal. “ECoR remains committed to promoting environmental awareness and cleanliness as part of its ongoing initiatives, and the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign served as a perfect platform for reinforcing these values within the community,” an ECoR official said.
