ECoR’s breakthrough in tunnel construction

Bhubaneswar: The construction wing of the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has achieved a breakthrough in constructing a 700-meter-long escape tunnel from the national highway with the 4,185-meter long tunnel in Adenigarh Charichhak section under the deep reserve forest of Madhapur forest range in Boudh. With this the Khurda RoadBolangir rail link project achieved a major milestone, ECoR sources said.

Out of the total 301km of the Khurda Road-Bolangir project, 152.805km has been commissioned. To speed up the work and ensure early completion of the project before the scheduled timeline, Railways has been constructing this line from both sides, from Khurda Road and Bolangir.

Till now, 105.8km from Khurda Road to Daspalla and 47km from Bolangir to Subarnapur has been commissioned. Apart from this, Subarnapur to Jharmunda, a distance of 28.765km has also been completed. The segment from Subarnapur to Purunakatak, covering about 73km, is expected to be completed within the next few months. This public-centric project, which spans remote areas, is closely monitored by the Ministry of Railways.
