Bhubaneswar:Dharmasala BJD MLA Pranab Balabantaray was grilled for three hours by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) Monday over his alleged nexus with the gangster duo ‘D-Brothers’ Sushant Dhalasamta and Sushil Dhalasamanta.
The ED had, in its summons, asked Pranab to submit all records of his financial dealings with the Dhalasamanta brothers (D-Brothers). This, after reports surfaced that Pranab’s transport company had financial dealings with the D-brothers.
The two gangsters have been jailed since their arrest January 29, 2016 by the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police for their alleged involvement in several cases of murder, extortion, firearms racket and tender-fixing. The ED said it was scanning various business and financial transactions of the transport company and also investigating as to who had taken more profit.
The Congress launched a mass protest in Dharmasala by burning the effigies of the MLA in the street, demanding Pranab’s resignation.
