ED summons Rhea Chakraborty, CBI agrees to probe Sushant Singh Rajput’s death

New Delhi: Well things are getting murkier by the moment for the rumoured girlfriend of Sushant Singh Rajput. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has sent summons to Rhea Chakraborty asking her to appear before it in Mumbai August 7. The ED is going to interrogate her in money-laundering probe linked to complaint by Sushant Singh Rajput’s father. In the complaint, Sushant’s father KK Singh has alleged that Rhea withdrew large amounts from Sushant’s accounts.

CBI agrees to investigate

Meanwhile in a separate development, the CBI said Wednesday that it will take up the probe into the alleged suicide of actor Sushant Singh Rajput on a reference of the Bihar government.

Bihar police had registered a case of abetment to suicide, criminal conspiracy, cheating among other charges on a complaint from the family of the deceased actor. The Bihar government had sought a CBI probe into the matter, officials said.

The Centre has forwarded the reference to the CBI which has decided to start the probe on its basis, officials said.

According to the procedure, the CBI has the freedom to return the reference in case there are legal issues involved. It may seek further clarification but sources in the know said the case will be taken up for investigation.

Complaint lodged

Rajput, aged 34, was found hanging June 14 from the ceiling of his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai. Since then Mumbai police has been probing the case keeping in mind various angles.

Rajput’s father had lodged an FIR at Rajiv Nagar police station in Patna July 25 against Rhea and six others, including her family members, accusing them of abetting the his suicide.
