Malkangiri: In a major jolt to the outlawed CPI (Maoists) outfit, its eight rebels went missing after a boat they were cruising on capsized due to heavy flow of water at Luhagrama ghat under Dhulikut panchayat of Chitrakonda in Malkangiri district Sunday, sources said.
According to reports, the incident took place when the ultras were heading towards Ralegada village from Sarakabandu through the ghat.
Eyewitnesses said the boat which they had boarded capsized after it lost balance due to strong currents.
Police along with BSF personnel launched a search operation after the family members of the Maoists learnt about the incident.
Notably, security arrangement has been tightened in the area after the inauguration of Gurupriya Bridge.
