Bhubaneswar: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Mission Shakti, Pravati Parida initiated ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign by planting a ‘Baula’ sapling at Mission Shakti Bhawan here, Sunday. Parida also chaired a meeting with the Mission Shakti district and block federation leaders, along with community support staff. She emphasised the importance of honouring motherhood and encouraged citizens to plant a tree.
The deputy CM highlighted the need for community involvement in the sustainability of the environment and urged Mission Shakti self-help group (SHG) leaders and officials to take up this campaign across the state. Parida also acknowledged the presence and scope of Mission Shakti, bringing socio-economic development across the state. On the occasion, SHG members and leaders in support of the campaign pledged to plant 2.5 crore trees. Odisha Livelihoods Mission (OLM) State Mission Director and CEO Vineet Bhardwaj, senior government officials and other staff of the department were present on the occasion.
