Rourkela: An elderly woman was beaten to death at Jagdishpur village under Kuanrmunda block near this town in Sundargarh district Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Birasi Barla (70).
The accused Ghanashyam Ekka suspected that Birasi has been practising witchcraft.
Suspecting that Birasi was a witch, Ekka went to her house Saturday afternoon and beaten up her with a club and killed the elderly woman.
On getting information, the police reached the spot, seized the body and detained Ghanashyam.
