Bhubaneswar: Following the death of Biju Janata Dal’s Patkura Assembly candidate Bed Prakash Agarwalla, Kendrapara sub-collector and returning officer Sanjay Kumar Mishra Sunday adjourned the election for the seat scheduled for April 29.
The returning officer has issued an order in this regard. As per the provisions laid down under the Representation of People Act 1951, elections for the Patkura Assembly constituency has been adjourned till the next date of notification for elections to be issued by the Election Commission of India.
The Chief Electoral Officer Surendra Kumar has also requested the EC to initiate further course of action as per necessity.
Bijoy Mohapatra is the BJP’s candidate for the Assembly seat whereas Jayant Mohapatra is contesting on a Congress ticket.
