Electric hunting trap laid out for boars kills brothers in Ganjam

Hinjili: Two brothers were electrocuted after accidentally coming in contact with a livewire trap allegedly laid out to hunt boars. The incident was reported from Singipur village under Hinjili police limits in Ganjam district Saturday evening.

The deceased siblings were identified as Ramesh Muni (55) and Mangulu Muni (50) from Singipur village. On being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the bodies for postmortem which will be carried out at MKCG Medical College and Hospital Sunday.

Sources said Ramesh and Mangulu had gone to their farmland Friday night to water the plants. The brothers did not return even the next morning. Family members then launched a frantic search for them but failed to find them. However, their search ended in a bush next to their farmland where the bodies were lying.

Family members immediately informed the police who reached the spot and recovered the bodies. Registering a case (Case No-310/20), the police have launched an investigation.

Locals alleged that the electric wire was laid out by hunters to kill boars and it claimed two lives. They demanded action against the hunters.
