In another similar yet unrelated incident last Thursday, two people died in a wild elephant attack in the wee hours at Pateli village under Angul Forest Division. They were trampled to death by the elephant while they were on their way to relieve themselves.

Soon after the incident, the irate villagers blocked the road close to the village after informing the forest officials. The protestors burnt tyres and demanded adequate compensation for the victims.
