Keonjhar: A 15-year-old elephant at Bhuyan and Juang forest range in Keonjhar district has fallen sick causing concern for the forest authorities.
The officials carried out some tests on the elephant Saturday. A veterinary team also visited the elephant Sunday to carry out further examinations. Blood sample of the animal has also been taken for examination. Once the report is received, treatment will start said forest official Muktikant Parida.
A herd of elephants was recently seen moving in this range. However, it left the ailing elephant behind and moved away.
It should be stated here that another ailing pachyderm at Banara in Chandaka-Damapada wildlife sanctuary that was undergoing treatment since Thursday has shown signs of improvement. The elephant has also started consuming food. Officials said that due to malnutrition the elephant had fallen sick.
