Encounter in Bhubaneswar: Two more criminals injured

Bhubaneswar:  A day after two members of a gang were injured in an exchange of fire with Shaheed Nagar police, another two members of the same gang suffered the same fate in an encounter with Dhauli police of Bhubaneswar early Sunday morning.

According to a source, the incident took place after Dhauli IIC received a tip-off at 2:45am suggesting the presence of two notorious criminals in a flat of Bapuji Heights under Dhauli police limits.

Acting on the information, Dhauli inspector in-charge (IIC) along with his team reached the apartment. Even though the miscreants tried to flee the scene on a motorcycle towards Tankapani Road, they were intercepted at Chili Pokhari under Badagada police limits. Badagada officers had been kept in loop by Dhauli IIC.

The miscreants, however, opened fired at the chasing police party instead of stopping. The police team exercising their right to self-defence opened four rounds of controlled fire at the miscreants that injured both in their legs.

Both were initially admitted to Capital Hospital and later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.

The cops have seized one country made handgun, one live ammunition, one toy pistol, one Hero Honda Glamour motorcycle along with Rs 50,000 in cash and three mobile phones from their possession.
